Tooth and Claw

Synopsis

A group of monks decide to fight some local townsfolk to take over the Torchwood house. They use their martial art skills to quickly defeat them.

The Doctor and Rose decide to travel back to 1979 and the Doctor remarks that it's a very good year with the launch of the Sky Lab with a little help from him and that it nearly took his thumb. He wanderes out only to be surounded by armed gaurds who ask who he is. Finding himself to be in Scotland 1879 he uses a Scottish accent to explain. He finds out that Queen Victoria is in the Carrige and the Psychic paper tells her that he is to be her protector.

Rose bets the Doctor 5 pounds that she can make the Queen say "We are not amused." The Doctor intitally refuses saying that would be abusing his privilage as a time traveller but agrees after Rose raises it to 10 pounds. Queen Victoria takes refuge in the Torchwood house with the diamond, the Koh-i-Noor. The Monks were acting as staff to the Torchwood house and Sir Robert MacLeish tells of his father who had a fascination with werewolves. He also talks of a giant telescope with father built.

Rose is told to change for dinner and stumbles across a servant girl. She is chained to a wall after finding that all the gaurds have been drugged. A cage is nearby which Rose notices has a human with an aliens' mind. SHe finds out that it wants to create the Empire of the Wolf and it notes that there is something about the wolf with Rose.

At dinner the gaurds turn on the guests when the moon rises and the Doctor races off to the basement. Rose and the servants manage to pull the chain from the wall as the Lupine Wavelength Haemovariform transforms. The Doctor comments that the werewolf is beautiful before running off. Mrs. MacLiesh realises that the werewolf doesn't like mistletoe and starts chopping it up.

The Queen, Doctor, Rose, and Robert are all chased into the library where the mistletoe coated walls keep it out. It soon finds a way around this by coming through the ceiling forcing them to run. Rose is very nearly killed by the werewolf but Mrs. Macleish throws mistletoe on it causing it to run away. Robert then tells his wife he loves her and tells her to lead the other to safety.

In the observatry the Queen produces the Koh-i-Noor which the Doctor realises was cut to be used as a trap for the werewolf. Robert sacrafices himself to buy the Doctor more time and to make up for the treason he was forced to commit. The Werewolf is drowned in the moonlight but not before scratching the queen. She calims that it was from a splinter from the door.

The Queen knights the Doctor "Sir Doctor of Tardis" and Rose "Dame Rose of the Powell Estate" and then banishes them after saying "I am not amused". She then goes on to found the Torchwood intitute to protect Great Britian from extra terrestial threats. The Doctor and Rose then discuss the fact that Victoria has Haemophillia but neither of her parents had it. They then conclude that the royal family are werewolves before departing in the Tardis.
